FAQ Section for The Radicle Farm

Frequently Asked Questions for ENTREPRENEURS

The following are some of the most common questions we receive from applicants and potential applicants to The Radicle Farm. If you have any other questions, please direct them to: Damaris Mozo at dmozo@radicle.vc.

What is The Radicle Farm?
The Radicle Farm (or “The Farm”) is a global farm-access platform to accelerate the development of early-stage agtech companies. “The Farm” connects the best, most innovative on-farm technologies from around the world with partner farms across the Northern and Southern hemispheres to conduct on-farm trials to produce data to validate their technology.  This is incredibly unique because it doubles the speed at which on-farm technologies can be trialled and de-risks those technologies prior to investing significant amounts of capital.

What types of technologies are you looking for?
We are looking for companies leveraging agriculture technology to create a more sustainable food value chain.

Sample technology groups include new crop varieties, seed treatments, biologicals, inputs, management practices, new equipment, new business models, and digital tools.

What would be the acceptance criteria?
The following criteria will be used to select the companies (in addition to idiosyncratic assessment and due diligence used in assessing individual start-ups):

  • Alignment with Radicle investment themes
  • Key emerging technology categories
  • Type of crop and market size
  • Complexity of technology and probability of conducting successful trials

I’ve applied for a Radicle Challenge, am I eligible to apply to The Radicle Farm?
Yes, we welcome you to apply again as long as your technology and business are a fit for The Radicle Farm.

Who are the Partner Farms?
Radicle is currently working with large farms in the Mid-West US, California, Canada, and Brazil. These farms grow a variety of crops, including corn, soy, cereal grains, leafy greens, berries, vegetables, almonds, grapes, pistachios, tomatoes, citrus, coffee, avocado, macadamia, and other crops.

The farming partners provide access to their farms including land and agronomic resources as needed for the trial.

What would be the outcome if the trial is a success?
Successful trial outcomes will position each startup to receive an investment by Radicle Growth and become part of Radicle’s company-building platform.

I’ve already submitted my application and our business has hit a new milestone, received an industry accolade, launched a new product, etc., can I update my application to include this?
Once an application is submitted, it cannot be updated or modified. However, we would like to hear from you if there are any important updates regarding your business, so please email us at info@radicle.vc.

Some of the information in my application is confidential, can I ensure that all of the information I submit will remain confidential?
Everything that is contained in your application will only be seen and reviewed by the committee performing due diligence to select the participants in the Radicle Farm. All information contained in the application is considered confidential, however, we urge you to only submit information that you feel is appropriate to evaluate your application.

Does my application need to be in English?
Yes, at this time we are only able to assess applications in English. Should you be short-listed for the Radicle Farm platform, all presentations must also be made in English.
